Picnic Lunch on a terrace at Inle Lake
After the long but scenic boat trip to Sagar, it is time to stretch your legs and have some lunch. Go ashore on the western banks of Sagar lake, where the Tha Kaung Pagoda complex is located.
Hidden gems of the Inle Lake
This collection of more than 200 stupas is often passed by, with tourists heading straight to the famed “sunken” stupas of Sagar. Yet these hidden places hold great rewards for those who chose to explore them. You will need to climb a short, but steep hill to get to the best views but the effort is worth it. From a man-made terrace, you will have sweeping views over the stupas, the lake, and the rolling hills of the eastern shores.
Indulge in the best Myanmar food
Once you have had time to appreciate the exotic scenery, lunch will be served. Sit down at a private table and dive into a selection of traditional curries, vegetable salads, and other regional dishes. The fresh flavors of locally-grown produce and home-cooked sauces combine into one unforgettable meal. In addition to the food, you also will have incredible landscapes surrounding you. From this serene location, you can gaze upon the tranquil waters of Inle’s southern lake and the rolling green hills in the background. From north to south, east to west, there is little evidence of the modern world–just miles of nature and quaint buildings as far as the eye can see.
Lazy afternoon ramble by the Inle Lake
After lunch, lie back for a short rest. Close your eyes and enjoy the sounds of silence. Or stroll through the maze of pagodas in search of the perfect photo opportunity. Then, return to the waters’ edge where your boat is waiting to whisk you away to your next destination.
