Night Out in Yangon – Burmese Nights

Myanmar is not known night life, but the vibrant Yangon can offer a multitude of nice places perfect for those who love a good party.

The perfect place to start for an amazing night is the always “in”, 19th street! The perfect setting for dinner with you friends as there is delicious BBQ, street food, cheap beer and cocktails and, above all, a unique atmosphere!

For those who love sushi, Gekko Restaurant on Merchant Road is the right choice! A fancy colonial building completely redesigned to offer a special mix of ancient and modern to its guests. If you like cheap and good sushi, you may want to try Oishi sushi on Latha Road. The setting is not the fanciest, but the sushi is extraordinary and cheap at the same time.

And when the night starts, it is the best time to move to a breath-taking rooftop where you will sip your cocktail and admire an astonishing view of Shwedagon Pagoda. You can enjoy Yangon at night from the top of Sakura Tower, Yangon’s highest building, at their Yangon Yangon Bar. Other options are the new and modern bars The Penthouse or Vista Bar, which both offer an amazing view of the golden pagoda shimmering in the night.

Are you in the mood to dance?! Then the next step is 7th Joint!  This is a simple reggae pub, always full of expats who go there to dance to the rhythm of the music or to enjoy the live shows taking place on Friday.

Yangon also offers a wide choice of clubs opened until late  at night. Often entry is free for women! The clubs are a bit different from the western idea of a club, but they are still fun nonetheless. Techno music and private tables are available after buying a bottle of whiskey, rum or other drinks. Still, very few foreigners hang out at the clubs, but with the right friends you will enjoy the crazy music and the dancing while surrounded by young locals. Dj Bar, Pioneer, J One and others will create the perfect ambiance for your night out!

While traveling in Myanmar, you may not expect to go out and party a lot, but Yangon does offer some nice places to spend a fun night out and it can be a memorable experience to party like the Burmese do!
