Bagan by E-bike
You’ve seen the photos of Bagan online or in travel magazines. Now it is your chance to see them up close! Instead of traveling from pagoda to pagoda by car and gazing out of the window, we take you through Bagan cycling with a moped to get a more authentic, more intimate experience.
Cycling around Bagan’s temples
After a short safety briefing and demonstration of the bike’s functions, it’s time to hit the road! The e-bikes work like scooters, there is no need to pedal! Just relax and enjoy the breeze as you zip down the road. With these e-bikes, you can travel down smaller lanes than cars and other vehicles cannot access. Today’s ride is arranged to follow those lanes, avoiding the main roads, and taking you through the peaceful pagoda plains.
Bagan’s daily routine
As you ride along you will quickly realize that there is more to Bagan than its historic monuments. You will see farms dotting the landscape, small Buddhist monasteries where monks may be studying, and much more. Instead of passing cars and buses on the road, you will not encounter much traffic other than the occasional ox cart, wandering goat, or local kids on the way to school.
Tailor-made Bagan tour
There are plenty of chances to stop along the ride. Your guide will lead you to some of Bagan’s most famous temples where you will go inside to learn about their history and marvel at their beauty. You will also visit some lesser known monuments where, if you are lucky, you may be the only visitors. As you carry on you will grasp the sheer scale of Bagan’s archeological zone– everywhere you look, there will seem to be a pagoda!
Unique encounters with local Myanmar people
But this ride is not just about monuments. Other stops will be made to interact with local residents, either at their village home or out in the fields. Your guide will help translate any questions you may have about what it is like to live in the shadows of these incredible structures.
Making lifetime memories cycling around Bagan
By e-bike you also can experience Bagan with all your senses. You will hear sounds such as kids playing in the distance, craftsmen hammering their ox cart’s wheels, and plenty of birds singing in the breeze. You will catch the scent of incense in the wind near a temple or of garlic being fried in a local kitchen. You will feel the temperature change as you bike through fields through the arid plains. And, of course, you will have mile after mile of amazing views.
An insider’s access to Bagan’s craft
If you wish, there is the opportunity to make other visits during the ride. You may wish to stop at one of Bagan’s lacquerware workshops to see the process of creating this traditional handicraft. Or, you may want to pop in to a tea shop for a refreshment and for a chance to people watch.
Return to your hotel at the end of the excursion filled with unforgettable memories of the people and places of Bagan.
