Visit of the Kyaikthanlan Pagoda
One pagoda to definitely check out is Kyaikthanlan Pagoda which is over 150 feet tall and can be seen for miles. At night, the gold-pained structure is lit up creating a beautiful glow across the sky. This pagoda may be of interest to some because it is thought to be the place where Rudyard Kipling wrote his famous poem Mandalay. Visit of the Death Railway Museum
If you are interested in History, then it is worth visiting the Death Railway Museum. During WWII, part of Myanmar was occupied by the Japanese and Thanbyuzayat was the ending point of the infamous Death Railway constructed by forced laborers consisting of locals and foreign prisoners of war. The museum is home to a memorial and an original piece of the railway track. If you wish to visit this site, wecan arrange transportation and a guide who will explain to you this somber part of Burmese History.
Visit of the Win Sein Taw Ya
Another place to visit is the largest image of the reclining Buddha, called Win Sein Taw Ya. This is located about 20km outside of Mawlamyine on the main road. The reclining Buddha is 180 meters long and 30 meters high and is breathtaking due to the magnitude of its sheer size! This place, like many Buddhist shrines in Myanmar, is revered by the locals and they’ll appreciate your interest in visiting. Transportation and a guide can easily be arranged by us.

Mawlamyine itself is quite small and it is easy to walk around and find interesting nooks and crannies to explore. Like many towns in Myanmar, there are numerous pagodas to visit and you will be welcomed there by the local caretakers. In addition, there is the main marketplace called Zeigyi Lower Market and here you can find vendors selling all sorts of goods from clothes, food, spices and prepared foods. This is a great place to get a taste of the local life in Mawlamyine and interact with the locals.
