3 Days – Discover the contrasted Yangon

Destination:

Duration: 3 days

Spend three days immersed in Yangon life with our big city life escape. The seemingly chaotic city comes alive with our unique, insider excursions designed to cast a different light on the normal tourist route. The three days are spent visiting not only the main sites but also hidden neighborhoods, bustling markets, and truly local hangouts. For the culturally curious traveler, the “Discover the Contrasted Yangon” tour is the best way to get to know Yangon.

The detailed program

Day 1 : Yangon

Welcome to Yangon! The former capital is a joy to explore with crumbling old buildings standing alongside modern high-rises, serene temples adjacent to buzzing tea shops, and friendly Myanmar smiles all around. Take a walking tour of downtown to get oriented and learn about the city’s history, culture, and architecture. Then, visit the majestic Shwedagon Pagoda in the late afternoon. The gilded pagoda is the most revered Buddhist monument in Myanmar and walking around the patio as local worshippers chant evening prayers is an unforgettable experience. Cap off the evening with a visit to the bustling Chinatown to browse the street stalls and to enjoy the lively atmosphere.

Lunch and dinner on your own.
Overnight in Yangon.

Day 2 : Yangon

This morning board Yangon’s slow-moving commuter train which loops around the outskirts of the city. Used by thousands of commuters daily, the activity on board is just as interesting as the views of passing suburbs. Disembark in one such suburb and continue exploring Yangon by local trishaw and on foot, gaining a deeper insight into the lives of the city’s residents. Head back toward the city center and visit the massive reclining Buddha at Kyauktatgyi Pagoda and the green oasis of Kandawgyi Park. There is time for a visit to Bogyoke Market (also known as Scott’s market) to browse for souvenirs and handicrafts before the day comes to a close.
