Discover the Charming Excelsior Hotel in Yangon
When you first arrive in Yangon, it can be easy to forget it was once a bustling British-era colonial capital. Many of the old buildings have been replaced by shiny new office towers or international chain hotels. But downtown Yangon still retains a lot of its old charm and many regal old buildings are being repurposed. Excelsior Hotel is one such gem! The building dates back to the late 19th century but has been painstakingly restored to reflect the glory days of that era yet completed with modern amenities. In addition to the properties unique ambiance and amazing service, the setting is perfect- it is situated in the heart of downtown where old meets new. The neighborhood is still mostly residential, so you can pop out from your amazing hotel breakfast buffet and still grab a cup of tea with locals at an authentic street-side teashop.
Relax in the Amazing Ngapali Bay Villas
Ngapali is truly a special beach. Compared to Thailand beaches or many resort towns in Europe and America, Ngapali is relatively unspoiled. No buildings are permitted to stand higher than the palm tree line and there are no clubs, shopping or bars to speak of- only a few vendors selling fruits and pearls on the sands and a few bamboo shacks selling beers. So to fully embrace the tranquility of Ngapali, we suggest Ngapali Bay Villas. The villas are spacious with high ceilings and lots of windows, creating a sense that the sea and gardens are integrated into the rooms. The furnishings are understated but of the highest quality- a no-frills, yet indulgent stay. While we know our guests love to spend their time on the sand and in the sea, the accommodation at Ngapali Bay Villas may convince them to spend a bit more time lingering in the rooms each morning and evening!
Enjoy the beautiful views from the Amata Garden Resort
Inle Lake is one of Myanmar’s most spectacular natural wonders. A boat trip to explore the floating gardens and stilted villages of the lake is sure to be a highlight of your Myanmar holiday. But the day doesn’t have to end with a stay in a boring hotel! Amata Garden Resort sits on the edge of the lake, its rooms are located in a three-story building which offers fabulous views over the water as well as the nearby Shan Mountains. The pool is an inviting place for a dip, especially in the calm early morning and evening hours. With a setting such as this, it is no wonder that Amata Garden Resort is one of our favorite places at Inle Lake. But it gets better! The friendly, professional service and excellent dining options ensure that guests ‘feel at home’ during their stay- the perfect place to rest your head at the end of the day!
BAGAN- HOTEL @ THARABAR GATE
At Hotel @ Tharabar Gate, the serenity and rich history of Bagan meld seamlessly with 21st century amenities and top-notch service. Elegant but relaxed, the hotel is a welcoming retreat at the end of the day for families, couples and solo travelers. The property is located across the road from Ananda Paya, one of the most sacred temples in all of Myanmar, and within walking distance of several other ancient monuments. Stepping into the property, a large open-air sala serves as the reception area with friendly staff waiting to greet visitors with a cold refreshing towel or drink. The property also boasts an impressive pool- ideal for cooling off in Bagan’s searing summer heat- and lush tropical gardens filled with beautiful flowers and plenty of shade.
