Day 1

Mingalabar and welcome to Myanmar! The former capital Yangon, also known as Rangoon, is a fascinating place to begin your Myanmar holiday. Its mix of historic sites, beautiful architecture, religious monuments and diverse cultures provide a great insight in to the wonders of the country. Your day is free to explore the city on your own or opt for a refreshing spa treatment.

Day 2

Yangon Shwedagon PagodaYangon

Delve in to the best the city has to offer with a full day excursion. Spend the morning with an architecture expert who will walk with you through the city’s streets to learn about the historic monuments, their significance and the preservation efforts underway to ensure they are around for many years to come. This afternoon includes some of Yangon’s most recognized landmarks including Kyauktagyi Pagoda, Kandawagyi Lake and, of course, Shwedagon Pagoda. For a truly unique Yangon experience. (Option to travel in a restored antique Chevrolet bus)

Lunch own account. Dinner at Monsoon Restaurant (Indochina Set Menu). Overnight in Yangon at Strand Hotel.

Day 3

Bagan TemplesYangon – Bagan

Travel up-country to Bagan, the famed site of more than 2000 Buddhist monuments. Check-in to your luxury cruise ship and then set off on an excursion through Bagan, introducing you to the most famed monuments such as Ananda and Htilominlo. Watch the sun cast its rays over the pagoda and the Ayeyarwaddy River in the last light of day before returning to the ship for an indulgent welcome dinner.

Day 4

Bagan BalloonsBagan – Embark Cruise

Start your morning with a breathtaking hot-air balloon ride over Bagan or practice sunrise meditation at one of the temples. Spend the morning discovering more of Bagan and its 9th to 14th century monuments. At midday the ship casts off and sails north along the Ayeyarwaddy. Relax on board or partake in the various lectures or demonstrations on board. Cap off the day with sunset cocktails served on a mid-river sandbank followed by dinner on the ship.

Day 5

Mandalay U Bein Bridge with monksBagan – Mandalay (Cruise Day)

Awake early for meditation or yoga classes on board or enjoy a leisurely morning as the ship sails towards Ava. Ava was the ancient imperial capital for five centuries and after lunch, travel by horse and cart to visit its main sites. Continue to Sagaing and Amarapura to see the local silversmiths and textile workshops before reaching U Bein Bridge, the world’s longest teak bridge, in time for sunset drinks. A memorable farewell dinner will be held on a sandbank overlooking Mingun, followed by a traditional musical performance.

Day 6

Mandalay Shwenandaw MonasteryMandalay – Disembark Cruise

The ship arrives at Mandalay jetty mid-morning. Disembark and set off on a half-day discovery tour of the city’s main sites including Mahamuni Pagoda, Shwenandaw Monastery and Kuthodaw Pagoda. The remainder of the day is free at leisure.

Lunch on own account. Dinner at hotel (Western Set Menu). Overnight in Mandalay at Red Canal.

Day 7

Inle Lake SceneryMandalay – Heho – Inle Lake

After enjoying your breakfast in hotel, transfer to Mandalay airport for your flight to Heho and continue to the majestic Inle Lake. Spend the day exploring the lake: observe the unique leg-rowing technique of the Inthar fishermen, pass through stilted villages with floating gardens and enjoy the spectacular scenery. Visit some of the lake’s highlights including the revered Phaung Daw Oo and Nge Hpe Chaung monasteries. Several craft workshops are also on the lake for those who wish to purchase local souvenirs. For a memorable meal, a private gourmet lunch can be arranged on a converted rice barge.

Day 8

Indein Inle LakeInle Lake – Indein

Continue today exploring Inle Lake, traveling to some of the more remote parts of the waters. Visit a local village known for its taste tofu and bean products, walking along the quiet lanes to see small shops processing these items. Continue to the Pa-Oh village of Indein where a fantastic picnic will be served among the bamboo forests. Then visit the majestic stupa-covered Indein hill and continue on foot to Sae Ma, a typical lakeside village. Return to your hotel in the late afternoon.

Day 9

Yangon DowntownInle Lake – Heho – Yangon

The day is at your leisure at Inle until the evening flight back to Yangon. Or if you prefer, opt to go on a light trek through the Shan Hills to learn more about the culture and lifestyles of the region. Fly back to Yangon and enjoy a special farewell dinner at one of the city’s top restaurants.

Lunch on own account. Farewell Dinner at Le Planteur (full a la carte menu). Overnight in Yangon at Strand Hotel.

Day 10

Yangon bustling streetYangon Departure

Today is at your leisure to enjoy last minute shopping or sightseeing before departing Myanmar. Should you have time, you may wish to visit Bogyoke (or Scott) market. The market is filled with stalls selling craftwork, jewelry and fabrics among other items. Or venture to some of the many art galleries downtown or simply relax at your hotel. You will be transported to the Yangon International Airport in time for your international departure.
