A Glimpse of Bagan in a Hot Air Balloon

The most fabulous thing about a balloon flight is that nobody knows exactly where it will take you or, indeed, quite how long it will last! For about an hour you will be driven and drawn by the wind as this serene experience offers a spectacularly unique view of Bagan and the surrounding plains.

Itinerary and Info

  • Day 1: Bagan
You will get picked up at your hotel, between 05:30 and 06:00 in the morning. Upon arrival at the balloon launch site you can watch the balloon being inflated and prepared for take-off by the experienced pilots. Ballooning is also about watching the set up of the balloon, and being rescued at the end too, not just the flight itself. Once in the air the balloon can only go where the wind takes it.The exciting thing about ballooning is that you just don’t know. You will perceive Bagan waking up in the morning. You will see many temples in the distance and get a spectacular aerial view of Bagan. Sometimes you may fly over villages and see people on their early morning rounds, feeding their animals; or going to market. Not knowing where you are going to land is always exciting and part of the adventure!
After an exhilarating ride you are treated to a light champagne breakfast to knock this a amazing and interactive experience off in style.

The flights normally last 45 minutes to one hour, or longer depending on the wind. The whole experience including transfer and light champagne breakfast takes between 2 ½ to 3 hours. Depending on the balloon they have room from 8 until 16 passengers in four separate compartments plus a pilot. The season lasts from 15th of October to 31st of March. Advance bookings are recommended!
