Planning your trip to Myanmar
Planning a trip to Myanmar may seem a bit daunting due to its size and all the interesting places to go and things to see. There is no need to worry though; planning your trip can be easy and exciting. There is plenty of information available and we will be able to assist you with the logistics of planning your trip!
A Variety of Choices……
Morning in Yangon
Many travelers will choose to begin their trip in Yangon, the former capital and largest city in Myanmar. Located in the Ayerwaddy delta region, Yangon is the heartbeat of the country and a melting pot of exotic sights and sounds. Join us for a “Local Morning in Yangon” which is a great way to explore the outskirts of the city and interact with locals. We will take you on a local train route that circles around the city, stopping along the way to disembark and explore a village marketplace. This tour is only in the morning, so you’ll be back by noon time to explore more Yangon on your own or continue your travels to your next location.
Glimpses of Myanmar
The “Glimpses of Myanmar” tour will take you to the four most popular spots in Myanmar: Yangon, Mandalay, Inle Lake and Bagan. The trip will start in Yangon and from there onwards to Bagan to explore the famed temples and pagodas of the region. The next stop is Mandalay, the second largest city in Myanmar and home to the world’s largest book and from there we will carry on to the picturesque Inle Lake in Shan State, a absolute must-see place in Myanmar. The whole trip will last seven days and this is a great option for those who have a tight schedule but want to see as much of the country as possible.
For the Adventurous Traveler……
Off the Beaten Track in the Far North
For those looking for a real adventure off the beaten path, then we recommend our “Trek around Putao” tour! Putao is located in the remote north part of the country and is rarely visited by tourists. This is a completely different region of the country, both culturally and environmentally as Putao is the gateway to the sliver of the Himalayan Mountains that are part of Myanmar. Here you will explore lush green valleys and see snow-capped peaks in the distance. This tour is for those who don’t mind getting a little dirty as we will be hiking into the mountains to remote villages’ home to various ethnic tribes of the region. This is by far one of the most unique places you can visit during your time in Myanmar.
The most ideal place to begin your trip to Myanmar is Yangon. Yangon International Airport has grown in the last few years and now caters to flight from around the world. Arriving in Yangon is also ideal because there are regular buses, train and domestic flight services to all other major parts of the country. Obtaining a visa to enter Myanmar has become a lot easier as well. You can now apply for a visa-on-arrival using a secure website here which will process the visa in 1-3 business days. We can assist you with this process if you have any questions or concerns.
These are just some suggestions about where to go during your stay in Myanmar. Myanmar is an expansive country and there is definitely a lot to see and do. While some people will only have time to visit the major cities and sites, others will have some time to explore more rural and lesser-visited spots. Whatever traveler you are though, you will surely have a memorable experience. We’ll be happy to assist you with your planning process and recommend checking out our website for more information about other tours we offer.
